Thanks for coming to visit our Blooming Beautiful! web home – which is just an extension of our real world lives – and is full of all the things we love to think and do.
Richard and Wendy - taking off together!
As a family business, we’ve held the ‘business of family’ pretty much above all else. There have been plenty of ups and downs, of course. But over the years we have farmed the soil of our lives together (so to speak) to grow a basis for family life that is abundant, renewable, sustainable and true.
Therefore the launch of Blooming Beautiful! is, for us, just as much a metaphor for this stage of our lives together as it is for the metamorphosis of the family compost business that was established some eighteen years ago.
Richard Friar started it all back then and his larger than life, maverick personality earned him the title of the ‘King of Poo’. He tirelessly promoted the use of worms as organic recyclers in the media throughout the nineties and, thanks to him, today there is hardly a household in Oz that does not have it’s own worm farm or compost bin in the backyard!
Yeah, move over dad!
But, it looks like what dad started, the kids are going to finish. What Richard did for worms, the younger members of the clan are going all out to do for PermaCulture. So, the big push is on to bring that dream together, together – and together with others who share the dream, too.
For us, family is a concept where core values can be trustfully expressed through traditions and culture that bring those values to life – to make our lives a PermaCulture Garden for all the little ones who follow. You don’t have to be related in order to share that – you just have to be extended!
